NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION

NRA – CHIEF RANGE SAFETY OFFICER COURSE
Course Fee - $250


The purpose of this course is to develop NRA Chief Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to train and supervise NRA Range Safety Officers and to provide essential information required to develop Range Standard Operating Procedures.

This 14-hour course includes the 6-hour Basic Instructor Training Course and the 8-hour NRA Chief Range Safety Officer Course.

Included in the 6-hour Basic Instructor Training course are lessons covering:
(This portion is only required for New Instructors or those that have not taken it within 24-months)

1) How to Introduce a Speaker
2) The Instructor and the NRA Basic Firearm Training Program
3) Using a Training Team 
4) Training Materials and Training Aids
5) Organizing Your Course
6) Preparing to Teach

Included in the 8-hour Chief Range Safety Officer Course are lessons covering:

1) Introduction to NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson Plans
2) The Role of the Chief Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating 
Procedures
3) Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson I: Introduction to the 
NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course and Lesson II: The Role of the NRA 
Range Safety Officer and Range Standard Operating Procedures 
4) Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson III: Range Inspections 
and Range Rules
5) Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson IV: Range Safety Officer 
Briefing
6) Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson V: Emergency 
Procedures
7) Teaching NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course Lesson VI: Gun Stoppages and 
Malfunctions

Review and Chief Range Safety Officer Examination

The materials and training methods used in this course were prepared and developed by the NRA through years of experience and constant modification to fulfill the needs of an ever-changing society. The instructors conducting this course are highly trained and are certified by the National Rifle Association.

All course materials are included in the course fee.
